| History
In 1995, a group of concerned community volunteers saw the difficult
circumstances affecting rural older adults, and wanted to do something
about it. They formed the Save Our Seniors Committee to place a levy,
called the Erie County Senior Services Tax Levy, on the ballot to
fund a new organization. The levy passed by an amazing majority. In
March 1996, Serving Our Seniors was born.
|
| Serving Our Seniors is a local non-profit
organization committed to helping Erie County seniors, age 60 years or
better. It was conceived to serve both the well and the frail, with the
purpose of promoting the independence of senior citizens. |
| Above all, it is a resource center, designed
to be the place to turn to if you're an Erie County senior with any
problem, question, or concern. |
| All of Serving Our Seniors' services are
designed to supplement existing services, not duplicate them. If there is
already a program in the county to meet the older persons need, Serving Our
Seniors will help coordinate the clients need with the respective agency. |
| We have a 96% satisfaction rate. We are also able to
solve 95-98% of the questions/ problems/ concerns that come through our
office. |
