As an adult child, it is difficult to be the troubleshooter/
support person for your parent when health care issues
arise. Who would you lean on, in the event that you
received a phone call at 1:00 am and told that your parent
is in the ER? Up until four months ago, if you asked me that
question I would have said – no one.
Today, there is a service to do just that…. And more! It’s

The daughter lived in another state and Julie took an I-Pad
and a program called “FaceTime”. This device allowed the
daughter to see and talk with her mother while in the ER;
and also the doctor. It was the next best thing to being there.

Who Are Caring For their Parents
The Homestead Exemption is a tax break on your
real estate taxes for homeowners 65 and older
OR on disability. In order to qualify you MUST:
•
Be 65 or older OR on Permanent Disability
•
Be named on the deed to your property as of
January 1st of the year you are applying
•
Live there as your primary residence
•
Have a household adjusted gross income
(according to line 3 of your Ohio Income Tax
return) of $31,000 or less.
