VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Serving Our Seniors appreciates the many volunteers that help make this agency a resource for seniors living in Erie County. The following positions remain available for those who wish to be a help:

1. OUT OF TOWN MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION DRIVER

a. Drivers pick one day per month - such as the first Friday or the second Tuesday - to be available in case a client has an out of town medical appointment. (Out of town in this case means out of Erie County).

b. Rides are scheduled in advance, and drivers are asked by the Friday before the date of the appointment if they would be available to drive.

c. 75% of our clients need to go to Cleveland or Toledo, therefore we especially need drivers who do not mind driving to these locations. Drivers are free to choose not to drive to the big cities.

Serving Our Seniors has 2 cars available for the drivers to use. Volunteers must pass a Bureau of Motor Vehicle check and a criminal background check. Serving Our Seniors will pay for the cost of these inquiries.

2. FILING

Volunteers alphabetize and file client paperwork. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge of the alphabet and filing procedures.

3. DATA ENTRY

Volunteers are needed to look up the city/township of some clients using the auditors website on the internet. They will then enter the information into the client database. Training is available.
