resources no greater than $14,910.00 The government defines a financial resource as: money in a checking, savings or retirement account, stocks, bonds. It does not count your home, furniture, other household/ personal items, one car, burial plot, up to $1,500 for burial expenses, if you have set aside money for this purpose. To receive SLMB, an Ohio Department of Medicaid Application for Help with Medicare Expenses needs to be completed. There is a government program called Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB). If you qualify, the government will pay for your monthly, Medicare Part B premium of $202.90. This is the amount of money that is automatically deducted from your social security check. To qualify, it depends on your gross monthly income and your financial “resources.” The monthly income of Older Ohioans who qualify for SLMB, in 2026 is: • A single person can have a gross monthly income no greater than $1,350.00 / month and financial resources no greater than $9,950.00 • Married couples can have a gross monthly income no greater than $1,824 and financial Having healthy teeth and gums does more than keep you from losing your teeth in later life. It keeps the rest of your body healthy, too. Erie County Dental Health Clinic and Serving Our Seniors is working together to make it affordable for Erie County residents ages 60+ to see a dentist and get general dental care. Although the Erie County Health Department’s Dental Clinic offers a sliding fee scale, that may not be enough to make it affordable. If that is the case, call Serving Our Seniors (419-624-1856) and ask about “Cost-Sharing for Dental Care.” Serving Our Seniors has over $5,000.00 to be used to help Erie Co. residents, age 60+ receive up to $600 of general dental care. When you call, ask to speak with a Senior Advocate or a Senior Advocate Assistant. Together, you and the advocate will figure out the amount that is affordable for you to pay to the Erie County Health Department’s Dental Clinic. Serving Our Seniors will pay the rest.
