MATURE WORKERS ARE IN DEMAND
The service industry is
struggling to find people
with compassion and
a work ethic. They
want to hire people
who understand
responsibility, and
derive satisfaction from helping others. Home care
agencies that provide housekeeping services and the
Sandusky Transit System will tell you they are looking
to hire these experienced and reliable people.
Easter Seals and Sandusky Transit System are two
organizations who welcome retirees as job applicants,
as long as they have the functional capacity to do the
work. Baby-boomers are the generation with a strong
work ethic. “We are happy to hire them”, said Shelia
Dunn, CEO, of Easter Seals.
“We have a few employees, now, who are over the
age of 60. They do a great job for us,” said Pete Carey,
Manager of the Sandusky Transit System.
Boomers have a reputation for showing up as
scheduled and getting the work done as instructed.
In today’s job market, those attributes are a hot
commodity. Many organizations are eager to be
flexible, when scheduling, in order to attract those
with a strong work ethic. Not a bad deal when the
organization gets a conscientious and reliable worker,
in exchange.
If you would like paid employment for doing in-the-
home housekeeping services, call Melissa Kuhlman,
Easter Seals (419-621-7997); or driving people to
various locations throughout
Erie County, call
Pete Carey,
(419-627-0740)
Manager, the
Sandusky Transit
System.
