Q: My parents do not live in Erie County but I am
looking for resources for them, can you help someone
out of county?
A: While we cannot help your parents
we can point you in the right direction.
Call the Elder Care Locator 800-
677-1116. It’s funded by the federal
government.
– Wendy Boyer, Senior
Advocate Assistant
Q: I keep receiving messages saying a friend or family
member purchased a medic alert device for me and
they want to deliver it. What should
I do?
A: Ignore it. It’s a scam. Call our
offce and let us help you get on the
“Do Not Call List”.
– Chris Ferguson,
Quality Assurance Manager
Q: Can I donate my unused medications to Serving
Our Seniors?
A: Unfortunately, no. We tried to
get the regulations changed so you
could donate your medications. We
have been unsuccessful, but haven’t
stopped trying.

Q: I have some Fentanyl skin patches. They are still
good. What can I do with them?
A: Call your local police department
and ask if they can dispose of them
for you. This medication is a pain killer
and is valuable if sold on the street.
– Darcy Russell, Senior Advocate
Assistant
Q: I don’t understand the difference between a
Medicare Advantage Plan and traditional Medicare
with a Supplement.
A: Sign up for one of the Medicare
events listed on page 4. You can also
call our offce and ask to schedule
an appointment with a Medicare
Counselor to explain things to you
one-on-one, in-private.
– Anthony
Pool, Senior Advocate
Q: Who do I need to speak with if I want to volunteer
as an out-of-town driver?
A: I’m Ora Williams and I handle much
of the coordination of new volunteers.
We need drivers, even if you only
drive one time per month!
