Services to Support Independence Nutrition JANUARY - MARCH 2025 From the Director I recall talking with someone who came to Serving Our Seniors with questions. He was feeling a little stymied, now that he had retired. After I answered what he asked me, I said, “Is there anything else you would like to know?” He gave a brilliant reply, “I don’t know. I’ve never been old before.” I can relate to his answer. Just because I own a car, this does not mean that I understand all that I probably should. The same is true when it comes to aging. Those of us who are age 60 or better, are not aware of/do not understand all that we should. That is why Serving Our Seniors was founded, so you would have someone to turn to for help. It is also the reason we publish Serving Our Seniors Magazine. In this issue, readers will discover what Serving Our Seniors is doing to help reduce the number of hardships – physical and financial – as you continue to grow older. Be sure to read page 17 and learn how many of “us” live in Erie County. On pages 4, 5, 9,11,17,19 and 20 you will learn how we can be of help; and on pages 7, 9, 14, 15,16, 18, 19, 21 and 22 you will discover things you can do to help yourself grow older successfully and help Serving Our Seniors, too.
