The Power of Tenacity & Faith,
The Library and The Stroke Club
Meet Jeanne, a survivor of a brain aneurysm since age
53. She is now age 71 and she credits her recuperation/
rehabilitation to the Lord. She said, “After my aneurysm
I didn’t know anything – family names, how to cook, how
to write, how to read, but I did know the whole Lord’s
prayer.” The doctors thought the aneurysm would result
in paralysis. She’s grateful it didn’t.
She underwent two brain surgeries. Her insurance did
not cover therapy. When she was discharged from the
hospital she was determined to get better, but she had
to achieve that on her own. So she walked – a lot! She
could not read, so she walked to the Sandusky library
to learn. “It still puts tears in my eyes, but they had a
volunteer there and she helped teach me to read again.
We’re still friends, today. That library is wonderful!”
After she had her knees replaced she became a
swimmer. Her advice to others is pray a lot. “Talk to Him
and don’t give up. If you are down and out – relax and
say I’ll do better tomorrow.”
The Stroke Club is a support system for Jeanne and she
is a support person to others. They meet the frst Tuesday
of each month in the Community Room of Firelands
