For many older adults in our community, traveling out of town for health appointments is a challenge they simply cannot overcome alone. That’s where Serving Our Seniors steps in — and where you can make a life-changing difference, too. Meet Kay, one of our Out-of-Town Transportation Volunteers. She drives older adults to their health care appointments. Kay began volunteering after reading about Mark Pifer’s experience in the January 2025 issue of Serving Our Seniors Magazine. “I like to drive and I like to help people. Plus, it’s only one day per month. I thought to myself, I can help one day per month. I have no problem driving to Cleveland, navigating the freeway, and even dealing with rush hour,” Kay shared. She also appreciates the flexibility. “If I don’t want to take a trip, I can say no. The trips work around my schedule,” she says.
