Nancy knew, before she retired, that Medicare did
not cover dental care. She tried to be as prepared as
possible and would use her “emergency fund” when
she had an unexpected dental problem.
She had good dental habits. She had always gone
to get her teeth cleaned, twice a year, at her own
expense. She didn’t get her teeth x-rayed, however,
because she couldn’t afford that additional expense. “In
2014 my teeth kept breaking. I would go to my dentist
to fix them, but it was getting so expensive because of
all the dental work that I needed.”
She knew she had to do something, but what? Then
she saw the article in the Sandusky Register about
Serving Our Seniors Dental Project. “After I read it, I
thought this was an answer to prayer. Then I called
Serving Our Seniors.”
Serving Our Seniors uses the dentist at the Erie County
Health Department Dental Clinic. Nancy’s experience
has been very positive. “They are
so thorough. They do a great job”,
she said.
Nancy’s advice to other Erie
County residents, age 60+ is this…
“If your dental bills are getting too
high, you should call Serving Our
Seniors”.
The Dental Program is funded by a grant. It is not
free dental care, however, it does make dental care
available at a cost that you can afford to repay. This
is a requirement of the grant. Some of our clients pay
as little as $10.00/month, with no interest charged.
Those who apply will be asked for personal financial
information to determine if the person has the ability
to repay. Those who have over $50.00 of disposable
income after paying their monthly expenses will qualify
for the Dental Care Project. Call our office for more
information (419-624-1856 or 800-564-1856).
