In this issue of Serving Our Seniors Magazine the Calendar of Events is filled with
opportunities to learn about issues that affect you in later life. Two of these learning events,
“Transitions” and “Story Telling Improv”, are designed specifically for those experiencing
memory changes. These events offer humor, help and hope for the person coping with
m

s.
As you read through the magazine, I hope you are inspired by the people you read about
who are using later life to develop their creativity and love for music. We have included a few
testimonials to explain the work of Serving Our Seniors and how we help Erie County residents,
age 60+, maintain their independence and quality of life – in later life.

AARP and AAA are working with Serving Our Seniors to offer classes designed to help Erie County senior
citizens keep their driving skills/ knowledge sharp. If you are motivated to keep your keys longer by
learning what it takes to remain a good driver as you age, sign up for one or both of these courses. The
training takes place in a classroom setting. The “students” will have a manual/workbook to use during class.
Retiree, Lynn Bragg is an AARP Volunteer Instructor for their Smart Drivers Course. (She also
works with Serving Our Seniors as a Volunteer Out of Town Transportation Driver.) She is teaching
a Smart Drivers Class on April 27, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm at the Erie County Office Building, 3rd
Floor, (downtown) 247 Columbus Ave – Sandusky. The cost is $15.00 for AARP Members/$20.00

and License to class. Enrollment is limited to the first 25 to register.
There is also the AAA Mature Driving Course, taught by AAA Trainer, Mary Lou Gallimore. This is an
eight hour class and will include a question and answer session with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The classes are June 16, 12:00 – 4:00 pm & June 17, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm at Serving Our Seniors, 310
E. Boalt Street, Sandusky. You must attend both days to complete the course. $10.00 members $15.00
for non-members. Payment is due at the time of registration. Make your check payable to AAA. Enrollment is limited to
the first 12 people who register. Register at Serving Our Seniors no later than June 12th.
