and I advocate for an older
person’s ability to maintain their
independence; and I advocate for
their right to self-determination.
Have your dad call me 419-624-
1856. I can come to his home and
explain how I advocate for older
adults and their ability to maintain
their independence. He does have the right to refuse
my assistance.
– Anthony, Senior Advocate
Q: I live in Vickery and need help
with my housekeeping. I can’t find
anyone willing to clean at my home
for $7.00/hour. Who can help me?
A: Serving Our Seniors can help
you. Call our office (419-624-1856).
We can arrange for a professional to assist you with
housekeeping. That person has passed a criminal
background check, carries general liability insurance
and a janitorial bond. Serving Our Seniors will work
with you, so that you only pay the amount you can
afford without experiencing a financial hardship.
– Wendy, Senior Advocate Assistant
Q: I’m willing to volunteer my time
to become a Medicare Counselor,
but I don’t want to volunteer all the
time. I do travel and I don’t want to
give that up. Do you want someone
like me?
A: We ask for at least 2 hours counseling per week. If
you are in Erie County at least 7 months per year, I’m
confident we can work something out. Please call me
(419-624-1856). I would welcome the opportunity to
discuss how we can work with you!
– Sue, Director
Q: Does Serving Our Seniors need
volunteer help with its fundraising
events? I like to volunteer, but not
for a yearlong commitment.
A: Yes! I am looking for volunteer
“helpers” as I plan our “Seeing
Green” Reverse Raffle” March 4,
2017 at the American Legion. We are working on this
event, now. I’m also in need of “helpers” as I plan our
first “Shades of
Gray
5K,” August 19, 2017. Let’s talk!
419-624-1856!
– Sarah, Office Manager / Fundraising
Event Coordinator
Q: Does Serving Our Seniors
still need volunteers to drive
to take people to health care
appointments?
A: Yes, we need individuals who are
willing to drive no less than 12 times
a year. You can pick your own day(s). It does require
passing a criminal background check and a driving
assessment, which is paid by Serving Our Seniors.
Call me for more information. 419-624-1856

Assistant Office Manager / Clerical Support
Q: I have a leaking toilet. I called
a plumber, but I can’t afford the
$80.00 service charge to diagnose
the problem and still have enough
money to pay for the repair. Can
you help me?
A: Yes. We have a “Handyman Program”. If you
qualify, Serving Our Seniors can arrange for a plumber
to perform small repairs ($300.00 or less). This repair
is not “free”. If you qualify, it would require that you
contribute toward the cost of the repair, in an amount
that would not cause you financial hardship. Call our
office and we can explain how the Handyman Program
works.
